7 Days Rongai Route

5/10

Tour Overview

The 7 days Rongai Route is the only path that approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the northern side, near the Kenyan border, offering a quieter and more remote trekking experience. Known for its dry climate and gradual ascent, it’s ideal for climbers seeking better acclimatization and fewer crowds. While the scenery at the start is more subtle compared to other routes, Rongai makes up for it with pristine wilderness, wildlife sightings, and dramatic summit views. Trekkers also enjoy the unique opportunity to ascend the drier northern slopes and descend through the lush southern rainforest, making it one of the most diverse and rewarding routes to Uhuru Peak.

Arrival in Tanzania – Welcome to Moshi

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you’ll be greeted by a Lucky Moon Adventure representative and transferred to your hotel in Moshi—the gateway town to Mount Kilimanjaro. In the evening, meet your mountain guide for a detailed trek briefing and final gear check to prepare for the climb ahead.

Your journey begins with a scenic drive to the Rongai Gate, located near the Kenyan border on the northern side of the mountain.
